I posted this on FB also:

My son got to call home for a quick 4 minute phone call. I was thrilled hearing from him. His voice was about gone. From what I understand all the Drill Seargants are hard of hearing...lol..

He is seriously enjoying this experiance. I asked him if he was alright and if he was going to make it through, he said he was fine and everything is great.

Said that Friday was much better, everyone seemed to of gotten things done and nobody was "smoked" the whole day. That is why they were allowed to call home :)

His spirits are good, his body is tired, and his drive to exceed is in high gear!
Thanks every one who supports and prays for our Military and their families.

I wish him the best...and you too, Lisa.  *hugs*
lol they ( the military are very family oriented) they make them do things for their parents at least the army did,,pics and plaques etc But they always seemed to have the worst phine reception lolI'm glad you got to hear from him and things are going well.  He's in my prayers.Glad you heard from your son and things are going well! Prayers going up for all the generous people who serve our country to keep us safe! They are special people!Lisa...that's great news :)So happy that he got time to call you. Basic training may be a little rough on him. I am sure you raised a strong young man. My continued Thanks and prayers for you and your family especially your fine son.
I hope you get another call soon!

Good to hear your son is okay.  Will keep him in my prayers.

Our grandson, deployed to Afghanistan, keeps in touch with family via Facebook. Granted he has very little time for such stuff but he sure enjoys the fact that family can keep in the loop of what is going on at home.  Says it's cold - too cold. However, he's still okay.

Take Care - *Gentle Hugs*

Good Morning,

Since the Chatty Cathy Crew decided to "bump" this thread back to page 1.

I will update:

My son sent me a letter!!! I was so excited, it dawned on me he NEVER , that I can remember written me a letter. I carried it around for 2 days in my robe pocket ( We have been snowed in our house all week)

In his letter he is doing good, he said that it is not as bad as peoples stories. He writes that he is taking this very serious and is not having any difficulties following his Drill sergeants orders. They have done the confidence course, that he loved.

Said there is a lot of standing in formation, not his favorite thing.

He mentioned he is in the first line witch puts him in the top 10. Says he has to stay on his game. ( I do not know what significance that has if any at all)

Over all he really is enjoying the experience. Just wanted to share.

Lisa

After living through the tumultuous teens (which I find are way worse that the terrible twos) isn't it beautiful to have your relationship evolve like this?  Enjoy!

So glad things are going well for him too!
