Glucosamine for joint pain, vitamin E for memory loss, magnesium for high blood pressure: Supermarket shelves are lined with supplements that promise all sorts of benefits. But what does a woman really need to be healthy? "The best way to get what you need is through food, so if you're eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, you're off to a great start," says Elizabeth Ricanati, M.D., medical director of the Lifestyle 180 program at the Cleveland Clinic, which aims to reverse chronic disease through exercise, nutrition, and stress reduction. once again omega-3's make the cut. I need vitamin C it helps me so much with my skin scince the RA if I do not take my vitamin C my skin on my hands will turn red and crack and split and bleed. My doctor is amazed at how nice my hands look compare to how they were before. Thanks, Lynn, its a good affirmation!  I really didn't know that about calcium - that your body can only absorb 500mg at a time - I'll space those out better now.  My Rd told me to take calcium by itself (not with anything else other than D) because other vitamins could interfere with absorption.

great article.. I also, did not know that only 500 mg of calcium can be absorbed at once!!
There goes that info on Vit D...... love that vitamin!!
