Rheumatoid Nodules | Arthritis Information

 Hello,

I am new to this board, and I just have a question.  Does n e 1 here have rheumatiod nodules, and if so where are they located and what do they look like.  I was just wondering because I have developed to strange bumps near the end of two my fingers on the palm side of my left hand and was wondering should I show them to my RD the next time I see her?

Thanx

I'm not sure if they're nodules or not.  I have some lumps by my elbows, but from what I've read about them, these seem kind of large to be nodules, although my doctor at one point did say that's what they were.  I also had one on one of my lungs at one time.  It's not a bad idea to show them to your RD though.  He'd probably be able to tell you what they were.

Yes, this is a great place for support and encouragement.  I haven't been here that long, but now I wonder how I got along without everyone's help.  Great group of people.  And it's so nice to be able to talk to people who know what you're going through, instead of just the people who *think* they know what you're going through.

Keep coming back.  You'll find a wealth of information, and make some great friends.  Good luck

I once had a nodule near my elbow........My rheumy said that it was a rheumatoid nodule, but I don't remember a whole lot about it, as it was many years ago. Marie38472.8970717593

If the lumps are tender they might be bursa that have swollen up. My ortho said they could withdraw the fluid and inject steroids, but it might take more than 1 time. I opted to forget it. And then several weeks later I had a flare and they had me take 15mg prednisone and in 3 days time the swollen elbow bursa disappeared.

The nodules don't hurt.  They went away for awhile, but have come back.  I'm going to ask the RD about them when I go.  I think they're too large to be rheumatoid nodules.  Aren't they pea sized?  Mine are more like grapes.

Cris

Ive read on another website that they can be as small as a pea or as large as a grape. The bumps I have on my hand are small (about pea size) considering what you described Cris, and they are also not painful but they are hardened. Makes me wonder tho, since I am not familar wit them, and they r unsightly.
