been MIA...just checking in | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone,
How are you all? Sorry I have been MIA lately, things are just so busy and my other issues have taken over my life. This joint stuff has been pushed to the back burner. I have kind of just accepted that the meds don't work much and there is nothing I can do about it.

Im getting remicade every 6 weeks and still taking methotrexate and tramadol. Im not sure how well it helps, but I think the remicade helps at least a little so im gonna try to stay on it a bit more since there aren't so many options . I got my most recent blood work back today and it all looks good-but thats normal for me, its always good even when im not.

i have been dealing with some tough mental health stuff, and in comparison my physical diseases seem so much easier. im still working on finding the right mix of meds to get my moods more under control. I have a ton of different therapies a week its crazy.

I sit in the hospital infusion room for remicade and sometimes wish they would just admit me for the psych stuff. its been considered in the last few weeks, things have just been so bad.

im doing fine in school i guess. im not taking a full course load this semester so i have time to go to all my appts, ill still graduaute in may though, Im ahead on credits. im still busy as ever with extracurriculars, but i need to be. when im not busy my mind takes over my life and things get out of control

anyway i hope you all are doing ok, ive missed you!I hope things get straightened out for you. It is always good to hear from you. Prayers to you for success in getting all health problems under control.Oh my goodness. I hope that you are in the hands of a good mental health professional. There is so much help out there and some great meds (I know, I know.. more meds). B ut sometimes they really are necessary. The disease of Ra itself, as well as the RA medications, as well as all the lifestyle changes that one experiences as a result of RA, can all lead to things like anxiety and depression.

I really hope that your RA doctor will refer you to a mental health specialist  that he/she will be willing to work closely with. I don't think that this is too much to ask for .With all our meds as well as physical and emotional issues, sometimes we need a team of doctors. I don't necessarily mean 2 or 3 doctors, but a team . And sometimes you have to be a little assertive  in asking for what you need. I feel fortunate that my Ra doctor and my family doctor are in regular contact with each other, soI know that it can be done.

Good luck and please let us know how you are doing.
also.. wanted to add....wow for accompolishing what you are dong in school!! Awesome!!Hm I thought I posted but i guess not...
Anyway, thanks for all your support, it means a lot to me!
I am taking meds, and I am in a ton of therapy, behavioral group therap y as well as individual. The thought is I am bipolar. great! What fun!!
