Rheumatologist Q's | Arthritis Information

Hi everyone

I have gone through 3 rheumatologist's since I was diagnosed 12 years ago but am still not sure what I should be asking from them

I used to get annual x-rays to see how my joints were doing and whatnot but I have not gone through a set of x-rays in more that 4 years the same with blood work, I have asked about it but she said that it was not necessary I was just wondering if that was normal

I have been on Enbrel and just recently switched to Humira which are absolutely amazing in managing the pain and such but my rheumatologist just does not seem to be as proactive as I would have hoped with the non-medication side of things.....I asked about lifestyle changes that I might be able to consider because Google searches only get you so far but she didn't really have much to say.....Is that something I should go to a holistic health professional to find out has anyone ever gone that route?

any help would be much appreciated

thanks Yea mine either he said he has never seen a confirmed case where food and changing diet helped. I wish there were more but it makes sence that is it is immune system that food would not have alot of effect. But yet food and what we drink should have an effect on swelling wich we all have im sure. I dont like how fast i feel this pa is hitting me and going to ankles and iam now getting twinges of pain in fingers. kinda worries me about how fast and hard this can hit a person.Food and diet have no connection in PsA.

I can't imagine why a rheumtologist would be adivisng on lifestyle changes and the like. The rule is simple to keep moving and doing what you can safely do. The last thing you want to do is LESS than you currently do, so why would you ask for this? Swim regularly if you can; walk, ride a bike......do cardio, etc. Keep that body moving.

Holistic stuff? Never heard of it working.

The key is to get it under control and keep it there.
