Wrist pain...help! | Arthritis Information

Yesterday my wrist started hurting...(I have been having a flare this week in my knees and ankles <new to me; never had ankle pain before> and feet, but I usually have little or no pain). This pain is unlike the usual wrist pain I get, so I will try to explain:
Usually when my wrist hurts from arthritis, it is the outside of my wrist, just beside the big bone.
This time, it is on top of my wrist , closer to my thumb joint. There is a noticable lump right over the tendon and when I manipulate it it seems to click the tendon over. It's very painful I cannot do the normal things I want to do.
Is it RA or something else? Do I need a dr. Visit?

Yes I have thought to myself "is the other wrist sore in the same spot?" and yes just a little.
I"m not a doctor but I've experienced the same thing during flares - sometimes the outer wrist, sometimes the inner wrist. Kenalog [cortisone] injections have worked for my tenosynovitis so you would do well to find an excellent orth surgeon who specializes  in hands/wrists.

For years my wrist did very well on Kenalog and then it stopped working. At that time I had a "de Quervain's Release" [very simple outpatient surgery] and the interior side of the wrist has never bothered me again. I still have flares in my outer wrist, but Kenalog seems to still do well there.

See a good orth surgeon.

Oh - this only happens in the right wrist for me....and yes, I'm right handed and use the computer and mouse almost every waking hour.
