HI guys, yes, shingles, this is the second time I have had it, it is really itchy and yucky looking Oh, poor Janie.

Have you had the Shingles vaccine?

Get well!!!!
Janie, I am so sorry!  I can't remember what meds you are on, and I know we have discussed this here before, but you can't take the vaccine because its a live virus if you are on TNF's... I don't know about the other drugs, but I would check.  I had shingles pre RA and was given a shot that helped to get me over them faster... I don't remember the name of that either

I also have had shingles twice.  For some lucky reason they were painless.  I took Valtrex and the rash disappeared fairly quickly.  Good luck, hope you feel better soon!

Nolt a newbie, a person with a new computer!HI guys, I saw my GP and she prescribed Valtrex, two x 500mg 3 x a day.  Told me if I experienced bad nausea to reduce to 1 500mg 3 x a day.  So as usual, the nausea was absolutely awful, I panicked and cried and cried as I was dry reaching, got a fever, abdo pain, just felt acutely rotten.  I tried to phone doc to see what to do if only one tablet did the same as its Easter weekend and I would not know what to do.  She didn't get back to me unfortuantely but today I am improved with the side effects after reducing to 1 tablet.  Thank God, wouldn't want to do that again in a hurry.  Shingles are still stinging and itchy and sore but not as bad as I expected yet.  Thanks guys for listening, Janie. Awww, Janie!   Oh Janie, poor you!  I too have had shingles twice. Both times were before RA so I didn't have to stop my Mtx, as my RD says to do if I get sick now, but it did wreak havoc with my Mitral Valve Prolapse and started the need for ongoing heart med that I still must take. I do remember that the second episode was somewhat less painful and didn't last as many weeks so I sure hope that's the case for you too. Remember, you are sick, so rest more than usual.  Oh Janie it is just one thing after another. I truely hope this new medicine is the one that works for you.

Have any of the other issues suvh as the H pylori been resolved?

Continued prayers for you. Hoping for a solution.

Janie... I had shingles twice as well. The second time wasn't as bad as the first. Took Gabapentine for nerve pain for a long time. It did help the pain.

Hope this episode leaves soon. Shingles are nasty!!!

I've had them as well....awful!

How are you feeling?  I hope you have found some relief.
oh my POOR YOU!! That is horrible.

I am so sorry this has happened... you take a step or two forward ad something comes along to push us back.

I hope you heal quickly and are feeling good very soon.
