Liver Enzyme and Vitamin D | Arthritis Information

Hello All,

Still have not yet been officially diagnosed but started Plaquenil in September of 09.

As part of the follow up, they check my blook work every 3 months. Most recently, my liver enzymes were high and my Vitamin D were low. Doctor did not seem to think that the Plaquenil would cause the low enzymes. She asked about my drinking habits and I do have 2-3 glasses of wine a week....i happened to have a 2 glasses the night before. Any chance this is the culprit?

On the Vitamin D, she is putting me on prescription strengh Vitamin D. I am curious if this typically resolves itself with treatment?

Thanks for any insight.

I've never had a problem with my liver enzymes - always in the center of normal range. [I'm checked quarterly and have been for 16 years.]

However, recently my Vitamin D was checked for the first time and it was terribly low. Using prescription Vitamin D2 and it's bringing my levels up. Still, I don't see a change in liver enzymes - and I didn't expect to.

Can't recall when I last had a drink. I don't like the taste of it so I don't drink.
