Well, just had to cancel my MRI since now my company has moved over to PPO they called and said they woould be a payment of 7 due at check in. A payment plan was offered, but since its hard enough to make it from pay check to pay check i cannot take on more dept...........
Praise Obama's affordable medical insurance for all, (except those with chronic illness who are the ones that need the insurance).

Your company moved over from an HMO to a PPO? Is that right? If so, didn't your company give you the option of keeping your HMO?

Do you have a list of providers in the PPO? If not call the person in your company and get a provider ppo list. Your MRI should be covered by one of those providers (hospital, radiologist, etc.) Is your RD on the list? They changed from HMO to PPO but did they also change benefits? You need to gather all the information about the change and make sure that you've been given the material/s that explain the changes. I hear you about health insurance. LindyI know that policies vary greatly, but for what it's worth, I have a PPO plan and as long as I go to an in-network provider my out-of pocket [assuming I've met my 0 annual deductible] is about 10% of the contracted price of the MRI. I dont' think I've ever paid more than for an MRI.
If the up front cost of your MRI includes the deductible, then bite the bullet and find a way to scrape to pay for it. If it's not the MRI, then it will be something else that will require you to meet the annual deductible [whatever amount that is for you that your employer negotiated].
I'm sitting here and finding it hard to swallow that they didn't offer an HMO as well.
We've not had an HMO option for a couple of years now.
