Malaria Carrier | Arthritis Information

Hi,

I have a friend/co-worker who told me that she was a carrier for Malaria  since she had it while overseas.  I am wondering if that is something I should be worried about with my compromised immune system?

Any Thoughts?

Thanks
Unless you have been bitten by a mosquito infected with malaria, you cannot catch it. It is not contagious. You can get it from contaminated transfusions and sharing syringes or exchanging blood with an infected individual.

Hopefully your friend is undergoing treatment and is not donating blood and is not planning to get pregnant.

My husband got malaria while we were in Mozambique several years ago.  It isn't contagious from person to person.  No worries :)
