OT: a death in my family | Arthritis Information

There was a death in my family.

It's not really sad for her. My Great-Aunt was over 100 years old and in horrible arthritis pain, and although not really senile, had become nearly blind/very hard-of-hearing. Life was no fun for her anymore. Up until this year, she was much better, alert and able to interact. She just sort of gave up and slowly let go of this world in less than a month.

Her twin sister, my other Great-Aunt, is in a wheelchair. She worked very hard after her stroke and regained use of her one side and speech and since her transfusions for anemia, is much perkier, even talking on phone. But, her sister is gone... can you imagine that; after over 100 years?

Last Sept, the family back in Chicago got the twins together for a 100 Birthday Bash.  Both were in wheelchairs but wanted to sit side by side and had photos with the generations they started. We are all so glad Aunt Catherine got that chance while Aunt Marie was much better; more alert and able to converse and laugh. She did go often in the last weeks to sit at the hospital bedside. I think it would've broken me up to witness that. I hope I go before my sister and we're over 8years apart.

Notice my names (I smash first and middle together on this board):

CathyMarie2010-04-20 16:57:23Im sorry for your loss, and especially for the sister left behind.  But wow, what a blessing for them to have shared so many years together, huh?I'm sorry you lost your aunt.....  100 years is quite an accomplishment.....   Cathy, what a beautiful story about two devoted sisters.  I am so sorry for your loss and I thank you for sharing with us during this difficult time.  My heart goes out to you and Aunt Catherine; I'm sure her heart is breaking.

I'm sorry for your loss, though am confident your beloved aunt is in a happy, pain free place.
