Problems with Humira | Arthritis Information

My mother recently began taking Humira injections for her RA. After the first injection, she seemed to feel a lot better and was doing good. After the second, she started feeling the way she did before taking the first. She has taken four injections so far, and still no improvement. Her Rhuematologist says to take the injections for three months (six injections) before switching to something else. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar reaction to Humira, if it usually takes this long to start working, etc. She is also taking 10mg of Prednisone a day and seven 2.5mg Methotrexate a week. It really does take up to 3 months to see any real results-good or bad.  The biologics work on a celular level-takes a while.

It is so hard to be patient.  I hope this is the med for her and it kicks in soon!
I hope your mom gets some relief soon.  Humira is just one shot every two weeks right?  So four shots equals two months.....almost there.  And let me say that I'm glad your mom has such a supportive daughter.   That's gotta mean the world to her.  :)Thanks so much for the replies! Hopefully after the sixth shot, she'll be feeling a lot better.
Humira as a biweekly dose did not work for me.  The week of the shot I would feel good and the next week not so good.  After 3 months my rheumy changed it to a weekly dose and I did very well on the med.  Good luck to your mom.
