sleepless night number 2 | Arthritis Information

OK sleepless night number 2. Cough is better after getting the medicine today. Still  feel awful  though. Enbrel stopped working and now  my jaw hurts. This time it is the right side last week it was the left side. Left elbow isn't  working  so good  either.  I have no more Oxycontin so  I  am stuck with 800mg of Ibuprofen. Doesn't do much good really but hopefully it will  take off the edge at least. So glad I will see the RD this Thurs. The day can't come fast enough. Hopeful that  all will go well and something can be done about the medicine and possibly starting the remicade. This medicine is scary but frankly I just don't know what else to do.  I am running out of  options. What does one do when you exhausted all the different type of meds for RA?? Will they ever find a cure??

****SIGH****
Man o man, you sound like were having a very yucky day.  I am sooo sorry.  I hope you were able to sleep well last night.   Hate to hear that you are having such a rough time.  Maybe you should call the Rd in the morning and see if they can fit you in.  Mine is pretty good about that since I don't call very often.

I've taken Simply Sleep before to help when I've had a hard time sleeping.  It's made by Tylenol.  You have got to get some sleep, that is when our body heals itself.

I hope tonight is a better night.
Thanks everyone for your comments, suggestion and all. Yep, would love to get in to  see the RD first thing but she is  out of town at a conference M-W. So kind of stuck there. I 'll just muddle through until Thurs. Jaw is still sore but elbow feel a little better.
I believe someone on the board said  pain equals no sleep and no sleep equals more pain it's a horrible cycle. It really is.
I hoping today will get better. Have a good day everyone hopefully it will be pain free for  all.
Tylenol's "Simply Sleep" is the same as benadryl (generic name diphenhydramine).  You can pick up generic diphenhydramine very cheaply at most drugstores - no need to spend extra $$$ for the Tylenol logo. Being awake at night yet sooo tired is such a rotten deal.

some OTC meds to try:
Generic -Tylenol PM might help. It's acetaminophen+benadryl... you can take 2.
Generic Nighttime flu relief works too because of the higher acetaminaphen dose(I can't take ibprophen)+anti-histamine.

hot bath/hottub
Snow is right about this. Hottub is even better because you can soak all of you and the water never cools. While it does soothe muscles, it heats up the body and increases heart rate. Then when in bed, the body gradually cools and the heart rate decreases.... inducing sleep.  (you probably already know this... I think we all do by now)

My RD was gone to a conference once when I wanted to see her. It's hard to begrudge a thing like that; we want our specialists to be as up-to-date on knowledge as possible.

Good luck sleeping tonight!

Do be careful with combination OTC meds - it's easy to accidentally double up on ingredients, especially acetaminophen.  Personally I prefer using single-ingredient products.  That way I get exactly what I need, nothing more.  It's generally cheaper than using the combination stuff too.  Wow,  thanks for  all the suggestions. I am going to try the benedryl for sleeping. I am feeling a little better but I  am so  tired for the lack of sleep. Hopeful this will help. Thanks everyone.
