Correct me if I am wrong - Up until the new health bill, the FDA did not have a process in place to approve generic biologic drugs. The new "Obama" healthcare bill did have a provision to give the FDA the authority to begin approving generic forms of biologics after their 12 year exclusivity deal. So is this true, and if it is, how long is that process to begin to approve generic enbrel and start selling it? As a side note, I used Enbrel because I thought it is close to its 12 year exclusive time frame (1998-2010).years probably...the delay will be developing a manufacturing process..the drugs aren't made in your average pharmaceutical factory. Plus you still have the unknow of duplicating the formulations......I think you could honestly be looking at anything from 5-10 years
