Lyrica? | Arthritis Information

Hi, I recently had nerve damage from my doggy's tooth hitting my wrist.  Yes, my dog got on my nerves. lol  I have both RA and Fibro and Lyrica has worked very well for me, but I found it to be a difficult drug to get used to.  For the first few weeks, I had a lot of sleepiness, dizziness and out-of-it-ness.  I tapered on to it slowly and once I got past the initial period, I was fine.  After a year or so, I found I needed a higher dosage but it has been stable ever since.  If for any reason you need to stop it, it should be tapered down and not stopped cold turkey.  Hope it works out for you!Hi, sorry about your wrist and your puppy colliding.  My dog met my nose in mid-air one time and I thought my nose was broken  and my eye bruised, he was fine!!

I LOVE Lyrica.  My doctor prescribed it for leg neuropathy and I found that it's helping in other areas.  I've been on it for several years and just had to up my dose.  Good luck and I hope it helps you out.  Lindy
Thanks  ya'll.  That really helps.  And isn't it funny how easily we get hurt and our kids and dogs don't show a mark. lol  I added kids because I am always getting hurt by that one. Even more than by the fuzzy dog.  lol I love my Lryica. Like was already said you have to go through an adjustment period. It may make you sleepy when first raise the dose. They taperr you up gradually. It works great once you get used to it at the right dose.

I also take Cymbalta as well as Lryica it gives it an extra boost. Well that really had an adjustment period to get used to. I was tired at first but now I am alot more active. I feel more independent and cabable of taking care of myself as well as others. I try not to overdo of course with the RA. I still have my moments when I can not get to slepp because my toes are throbbing or something. I just think wow this is better than before.

I still take a few vicoden a day. I have been on the Lyrica for a little over three months so I am doing well at 100 mg twice a day along with 60 mg of Cymbalta. I imagine the dose is lower with the Cymbalta? My Neuro prescibes it for me.
Thanks Milly for telling about the adjustment time.  I decided to hold off on upping the dose until tomorrow.  I don't have to go anywhere.  So, I thought that would be a good time to start, just in case.  I am so excited.  I have had so much more energy and my mood has been great. Let's hope the mood thing lasts. lol
