I was on prednisone for probaly 2-3 months or so and my face definitely puffed up. Well I am totally weaned off of it now (thankfully!!!!!) and I cant get the puffiness and swollenness in my face to go away :( It's really really bothering me and making me uncomfortable and not want to even take pictures or anything- this is a problem bc I am getting married in a little over 2 months where my picture will be taken a million times! Does anybody have any advice/exercises or anything that they can suggest to me about how to get rid of this? :( :( Thank you!Jennm45,

Let me say first CONGRATS on your future wedding Day. How exciting for you.
Now, it is my experiance that the predisone PUFFY face will most def go away. I have taken predisone, and get the moon face. My pic below was taken (if I remember correctly) sometime after the predisone taper. It took a few weeks and things went back to the norm. I take a lasix  (water pill) every day and I do not know if that has helped or not. You could call and ask your doctors nurse if that would help. My guess is that there is PLENTY of time for the side effects of the pred to disappear before your wedding. I wish you the BEST in your future marriage.

One more thing, drink plenty of water, it helps flush extra fluid through your body. I know it sounds crazy , but I had a docotor tell me that if you drink extra water, you will actually retain less fluid....just a thought, and it couldn't hurt. =)

Best Wishes,
Lisa
Thanks so much for your reply and the congrats wedding wishes :). Yea I'm sure I am just being paranoid bc nobody else seems to notice my "puffy" face but me. It may just be me being my own worst critic! I am hoping that with the wedding being months away that I will look back to normal by then!!! And lucky for me I hate pop and coffee so I really do only drink water basically! haha Thank you for your encouraging words!!!Happy Wedding!!! I've been on and off prednisone for 15 years now. I always get the moon face, but it definitely does go away. It usually takes me about 4 weeks for it to fully go away... but it helps if you drink bunches of water.  I'm thinkin 4-8 weeks before Mr Moon face goes on Holiday...Hang in thereCongratulations! Also I am so sorry about the prednisone and the moon face. It goes away but I remeber how I felt when my face was like that and so sorry you had to experience this and while getting married. So sorry our egos go through as much as the rest of our bodies in the fight against RA.

Wishing you the best!
if you've got some weight to lose, this will also help the face. I finally got my cheekbones back after 10 years on pred.On the lighter side - after having the moon face for about 4 years on Pred, the wrinkles disappeared!!  But what a shock when I came down to low dosage - now my face is falling off!   Gravity has returned!!
