I have a question I'm hoping someone out there can answer. Is anyone else dealing with dark circles under their eyes? I never had this problem until about 2 years ago. Makeup hides most of it, but boy on a bad day, which can be frequent at times, I look like death warmed over! None of the doctors I see can seem to answer this. I know I'm tired all the time, but wow.
I have noticed the circles under my eyes getting darker. I thought, maybe it was just age, etc. But my brother in law who is a doctor says sometimes it can be caused by a vitamin defic.
He says because the meds we are on for the auto immune diseases can strip the body of our natural vitamins and minerals. It is important to ONE, get proper rest and TWO, eat well balanced meals to replenish the bodies vitamins and minerals.
Well...my rest is shot at night cause I hurt and I am at times too tired because of the pain to eat...LOL
So...I guess I better buy some stock in Revlon or MAC Makeup and call it a day! LOL
Yup! Mom had 'em - and I've had them since I can remember. The more tired I am - the darker and bigger they are. I want to get contacts - but I need the glasses to cover them up. Haven't been able to find a make-up that does it. most of the "cover-ups" make them stand out more. anyone finds one that works - lemme know. LOL woobshearts,
WOOBIE sAME AS ME . mY MOM HAD DARK CIRCLES AND SO DO I. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING AND NOTHING COVERS THEM. wHEN i AM TIRED WHICH IS MOST OF THE TIMEI am so glad this topic came up, because my dark
I have heard many theories about this one, but what I do know is that recently I was found to have a vitabin B12 deficiency and have started having tests but also injections of vitamin B12. I have always had "sallow" skin and dark circles under my eyes, but I must admit since I have had the injections they look a lot better. Obviously when I am overtired they still look puffy and a bit dark but atherwise they look a lot better. Vitamin B12 deficiency can happen with any auto immune disease if it is caused by pernicious anaemia (itself an autoimmune disease) and that is what I am being tested for. So I wonder if there is any connection or just coincidence? Niki Wow! I never expected this kind of response. I can't tell you all enough the comfort I am finding in the fact that I'm not alone in this concern. For the last year I've been addressing this issue with my doctor. I guess knowone seems as concerned about it as I do. Thanks for all the input everyone. I have heard good things about that bare minerals makeup. I think I am going to try it, when I am getting out of the house more and care
Fly away AZ
I am fearful for almost anyone to touch my head---I have sufffered so many bad haircuts. I watch the cutters like a hawk when I take my kids for haircuts too!!
I know you said makeup helps but Revlon's "neutralizer" (in comes in a reddish container). Apply prior to concealer and it works wonders! But only use very little of it, it really spreads and lasts a long time.
I think tea bags help too but that may be for puffiness.
Soak tea bags in hot water, let cool and apply on each eye.
Oil of Olay eye products are great too! Always apply eye products prior to facial moisturizer and makeup.
Btw, I am a makeup artist. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip. I'm always looking for ways to look close to normal. It's funny, but knowone notices but me, until I point it out then they're blown away, especially if it's before make over time. Oh well, every little bit helps.I also find that it helps to use a toner/skin cleanser like witch
hazel. It is mild and natural and I use it about twice a
day. It seems to keep my skin tone more even and cleans off the
dead skin cells. I also always moisturize.
There is a physicians formula product that comes in different colors
for different skin tones, like reds, greens, blues, etc. It will
tell you on the product which one works for circles. You apply it
before your foundation or cover up. Try to look at your local
drugstore, the stuff is good.
circles have become extremely bad over the past few
months. I haven't found anything yet that will cover
them up decently during the day, but am going to try
the ideas listed. Great tips!!
It's getting pretty bad though because I was almost
in shock the other night when I washed my face
because my dark circles are now a dark purple/red
color. I'm surprised know one at work has asked
what was wrong with me!!
Ladies and gents. Be sure to see an opthalmologist (no not the
ones at the eyeglass stores) regularly. RA does have ocular
manifestations that need to be monitored. Additionally some
of the drugs have effects on the eyes, particularly Prednisone.
So its very important that you see an eye DOCTOR to keep tabs and give
a full examination at least yearly. While I was on Prednisone, I
had to go every 6 months.
I also had/have Grave's Disease which has significant ocular effects
too. Fortunately, the proptosis (bulging of eyes) diminished
after it got under control but my eyelids are still retracting
slowly. This leads to really dry red eyes, etc.
The most common problem is keratoconjunctivitis sicca...dry red
eyes that are not helped by OTC eye drops. It can
also be a sign of the other autoimmune disease that sometimes
accompanies RA, Sjogrens.
This was a great topic...I truly enjoyed reading everyone's post.
My advise for dark circles is...buy glasses with rims that cover the eye area, in question. keep them light weight and enjoy them. They are a style statement these days.
I do find that when I muster the energy to get a hot shower and some
clothes that look good on me along with a little makeup, I feel so much
more normal. I find that a scalding hot shower motivates me to
move a little more.
I decided last week to go get my hair styled. I have had so much
trouble fixing my hair and spend my days off looking like a bag
lady. So I go to this place near my house, and the lady gave me
these horrible wings on my head. It was the ugliest hair I have
ever had. She must have been blind. I was getting stares
from the other workers and I had a feeling about it. I just
"knew" it wasn't right. It took all I had not to burst out
laughing when she turned my chair.
I honestly laughed the whole way home. I had to go home and
restyle it myself, which was a pain. I decided my hair looks
better styled by my pillow and I will not be going there again.
I think that makeup really can help you feel good. I got a
pedicure yesterday and they used hot towels. I can't do them
myself anymore, and it was a nice treat. I think those little
things can go a long way sometimes. I hate my feet now that they
spread, but the pedi made me feel a lot better about them.
