Any links for constant headaches with PA? | Arthritis Information

So I've suffered with PA for almost 15yrs now, gave up on PA meds over 7yrs ago and just coped with it and tried to change my diet. Almost 2 years ago I got inflammation in my eye and had reoccurring sharp pains around my eye ever since with frequent headaches. Then in December got pinched nerve in my neck, have compressed disks, pain in my neck, shoulder, chest and arm... Then after a throat infection in January my headaches became one constant headache that fluctuate medium to high, usually worse in afternoon or evening.

I have not been able to work or do much of anything since, been the same state of daily agony for 4 months strait. The headaches feel much like stress pressure above my ears and around my eyes, have ringing in ears, sharp pains around or behind both eyes when it gets bad (just about every afternoon). Cant sleep good bc the pain I can't get comfortable so I only sleep good with Amitriptyline which also makes me dopey. I've had a CT and 2 MRI scans. My doctors can see the neck issue but say they don't know why I have headaches. One Dr thinks I'm crazy and It's all in my mind. I think my headaches are either from PA in my jaw or possibly something in my sinuses, I also have allergies.

Anyone else with PA develop pains like this?   I haven't had pain like this but it certainly warrants looking into. What comes to mind is RA. If you go on the Rheumatoid ARthritis board here on this website, there are a few who have written of problems that sound somewhat similar. I wish I could remember who they are. Sorry. But post over there because PsA is so much like RA in so many ways. [Not to mention that most of the people tend to post there. You might run into a lot of threads that seem to have nothing to do with RA, but just post your question as a new thread.]I also have headaches with psa got alot better when i was on mobic but mine are at the base of my head into my ears. Im sure i have disk problems but docs dont seem to worried. Ather nsaids did nothiong for my headaches. psa could be the cause of yours my doc was talking to me about my eye ball swelling and if it did to get to the ER cause that is an emergency. So it could be in the muscles behind your eyes. I also have ringing in my ears sometimes but ive also had very dizzy spells and virtigo that they still have found no cause for. It has since gotten better but i had these spells for awhile in my 20s and for about a yr in my 30s. had eeg and heart scans 24 heart monitor  twice with no findings. I hope you find some relief. One thing i do is work my neck and this helps me.Thanks, my pain is under control. It's YOURS that I'm concerned about.

Very possible you have something else going on and I really think it's worth taking the time to look into it.

Another suggestion you might consider:  see a pain management specialist [MD]. These docs are really good about prescribing the right drugs for the right pain. And if they think you need other investigation, they'll point you in the right direction.

Well  thanks Ive had alot of tests done with no findings , EEG, heart monitor and they looked at the valves in heart, 2 24 hr heart monitors for a week at a time, they have found no reason and said they realy had no further to look and they did go away. Now the head aches if i get the psa undercontrol and still have them i will have them looked into i believe could be a disk or other form of arthritis in neck. I have always got the feeling forom my doctors that they think i over exaterate my pain. But when i ruptured my l5-s1 disk i went to work for 3 months before i went to doc  and got lortab and muscle relxers for a torn muscle went to work for another month before i went to er and 2 days later had an emergency miocrodisketomy cause i was loosing contol of left legg and spinal cord was compressed to 1/4 its size. So i know im no wimp just wish docs were alittle more compasionate. hope all are feeling well

Just to play devil's advocate....If a doctor cannot find any real  evidence then he might be at a loss to treat.

I've noticed that back injuries can eventually heal and all systems seem nornal for years.....and then related symptoms come back and cause other problems. So maybe that's worth looking into.

I'm pulling straws here, but have you heard of cricoarytenoid arthritis?

Changed any meds lately?

Sam12342010-05-18 11:13:42I checked out that link and found info about Amyloidosis. Sounds like something anyone with inflammatory disease should look into. I know I've has an enlarged liver and other symptoms, I'll ask my doctor about testing my kidneys.

My headaches feel like they are slowly becoming more intense. I have to wait to see a neurosurgeon about my neck, could be months. I'm also applying for long term disability, going to be rough living on ~0 a month. Got no income at all right now and my doctor tells me they take 3 months to fill out a disability form. So basically I'm screwed.
