Fish Oil for inflammation, anyone use this? | Arthritis Information

My sister uses fish oil to help with inflammation from osteoarthritis & osteoporosis and she says it helps her.  I have been dx'd with osteoarthritis along with PMR and was just wondering if anyone here with PMR has tried fish oil and what the results were.  I am currently using 15mg steroids daily.  Also, is it ok to use fish oil along with steroids?Hi Russellcat,
I started using cod liver oil about 5 years ago when I was having problems with knee pain. (I have some osteo-arthritis there). The knee pain went, also a marked improvement in my irregular heartbeat.
However I did go on to develop PMR(about a year ago). I'm still taking the fish oil (Omega Three Super Strength) as I believe it has many health benefits, not just for the joints.
Good wishes,Hello

Just to say I actually eat the oily fish itself about 3/4 times a week - salmon, mackerel, trout and sardines (with its bones mashed up as that is especially good for our bones).  Definitely helps with my PMR inflammation and osteoarthritis and I, like you, polly-anna, wonder if it is helping with my arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) too as I don't seem to be aware of it so much these days, although it was aggravated each time I had a flare-up and had to increase the Prednisolone.  Now down from 40mgs 3+ years ago to alternate days of 2 and 1.5mgs.
All the best to you both.
yes, i do, by the handful and i think it definitely helped take my pmr out. my sed rate is now close to normal, blood pressure lower than it has ever been.  the only difference is i started fishoil and lots of it. been taking it now two years. no more pred.I've been taking Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules for quite awhile now. I can't say it's helped my pmr, because I'm not sure, but it hasn't hurt!
