Hi all...been awhile..
diagnosed Feb 2008
been down to 1/2 mg of Pred for a few months..
Then
flare up..right arm began to hurt when i slept..when i woke up..i could barely move..
upped my pred to 1 to 2mg when i found it unbearable.
got an appointment with rheumy (takes weeks..) get to go next week
but my question is this..
in the past month, my arms began to hurt again..not as bad as..but almost as bad as the begining..not able to do bra..etc.
then today..my right jaw is in pain! and i JUST went to dentist weeks ago..so no cavities.
could this be begining of GCA?
any other symptoms..???
I know headaches..and so far that is good..but my right jaw is in PAIN!
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
frustrating disease..

it is near my right bottom of ear..ouch ouch ouch!

so, I have a relapse.
sad day.
at this point the dr does not think it is GCA. but she took my blood and my inflammation was really high.
I am heading out of the country to see my daughter. (she lives in your neck of the woods!) and i wanted to make sure i wouldnt run into problems.
So she gave me 40 mgs in case i should have some severe symptoms. although at this point, she just thinks i have a major flare up. so she told me to start at 10mgs
So...I do remember when i first got this..she said..well it will burn out in a few years...just take the pred and taper slowly.
so i did..it has been a bit more than 2 years and was down to 1/2 mg
and then i began to feel pretty poopy recently..worse and worse..
so when she found out how high the numbers were, she said. well about 70% have a "flare up" it is normal..dont worry..we will get you off pred in no time
hmmmmm...flare up..i havent been on such a high dose of pred for 1 year and a half.
I just got my cheekbones back!!my ulcer just got under control and i actually was begining to like sex again.
oh well..venting on the board..where else!!
