The knuckles and middle fingers as well as my wrist swollen and stiff, this is the result of yard work and having RA.

I am posting this , I know I am always curious how other peoples joints look and feel.
Strange, I guess, but may helps me to know others can relate. To me my hands and wrist look huge and make it difficult to move. I am trying to rest them now, so they can recover quickly. I do not want to start predisone...YUK

Hope everyone has a good week... I will refrain from

one more of my right hand:
I hope the swelling goes down soon!

That is what my hands looked like, and the pain, of course you know about that.  I waited about eight months or so before I went to the Dr. about it. (boy was that stupid).  Anyway he started me on Pred and MTX and the pain and swelling was gone in about four days.  I am off the Prednisone now but the MTX is up to eight once a week.

BTW I am also in Florida and it is going to 100 degrees today!  very rare

Wow Lisa, I know that's gotta hurt! the only areas of my hands that were really swolen were the joints near the hand. I'm sorry you're suffering. hope they feel better soon..oh wow.. honey.. that looks like me on my worst days!!!

kelstev's idea of the splints is perfect!  I would go right out to the CVS and grab one for each wrist... I use them for sleeping when I have issues..

Hang in there.. I hope things clear up quickly w/out pred!!!
OUCH!  Been there, done that and I am sure I am speaking for quite a few of us.  However, I could not do dishes, vacuum, make beds, cook a meal, etc. so I kind of chuckled thru it all. I did get some splints to help me drive the car and they helped.
Wishing you a quick recovery Lisa....without prednisone.

Kind of creepy looking at my hand pictures...lol...but I figure you all get it.

I like the idea of hand splints, I have one for my left hand ( I am left handed and that hand always seems a few degrees worse for the wear) I wish I would of wore splints while doing the yard work. I put the left one on and it really made my wrist ache more, so I took it off. I just need to let them rest.

I went shopping today, what a joke. I carried my keys in my pocket, (hurt to get them out) carried my debit card in pocket...and left purse in trunk...everything seemed like a huge effort. The worst thing about the whole day was I was shopping for a SWIM SUIT...ughhhh Bahhh...

I waited until the last minute to shop, my own fault, I leave for Florida tomorrow.

So, because I waited this meant I had to try the dang suits on. ZERO fun.

Will say, I found a suit that I actually like, so I count that as a Blessing for the day.

Everyone have a great evening, and thanks for the advice, and it does help to know others understand this crazy RA stuff.

Ejoy Florida,

We're going to Clearwater in the near future. Love that beach.

LEV
Thanks Lev, will do. Clearwater is beautiful as well. =)
.
This morning I woke up and I feel so much better, my hands look and feel amazing, compared to what they have been for the last week It is an answer to prayer. Fingers are stiff, but NOTHING like they were. Swelling has gone way down, feeling better! I can actually see my wrist and a couple of nuckles, YAY!

Have a great day everyone,

Lisa
Well, I guess I spoke to soon. I got my bag all packed this morning, shower and out the door. I have stopped at my office to do a few things and waiting on my husband to pick me up to drive me to airport. My hands ballooned back up!

This is very frustrating, my watch band is so tight , going to have to carry it. I took a lasix this morning, because for some reason when I Fly I retain fluid. This is a crazy up and down, good day, bad day type disease.

Well, I am off. I am just curious if this happens like this for others who are suffering with RA. Would really like to get back to a acceptable status. I did take my Methotrexate this morning, maybe it will kick in.

Be well all,

Lisa
Lisa, I hope you have had some relief and are enjoying the company in Florida.  My hands used to do this too.  I actually didn't mind doing the dishes because the warm water felt so good!  Splints helped my wrist and were a reminder to me to be careful in what I did.

Sending you vibes for a good time! GG,
