exactly, spoons!!

Yes, sadly there comes a time when we have to reassess our lives and our levels of capabilities and energy..

I reduced my load at work when I flared three years ago.. and haven't kicked it back up since I am feeling so much better... Because at any time, I can be reduced to the flaring person I was before..

Hang in there.. Hope all goes well.

You will know when it's time to cut back or give up on work.  When my Rheumy told me to quit work and apply for SSDI, I knew it was not time.  When I asked my employer for shorter hours and was refused, I left a long term job and got one that started later in the day  and was much easier.  After three years there, I knew it was time to give in.
You are doing the right thing by sitting back and thinking about all this and evaluating how you feel.  Maybe a leave of absence from work for a few weeks might help a lot.

Good for you! rab!!

I hope you feel good about this and it helps!!
Rab,
Just came across this post (lost amongst all the spam here at the moment)
Am pleased that you hve an employer so understanding - esp. in this economic climate when some firms are looking for any excuse to downsize staff levels.  Hope that it all works out well for you.  Unfortunately it is true about the spoons - we only have a certain number and have to get thru each day with what we have been given!
