Hello! Well, I went to the doctor yesterday and got my blood work results, my RFactor is 120, which she said is very high. :( She said that there is no chance that I will ever go into remission, but that we can control my RA with medicine. I started methotrexate today and I am currently taking 10 mg. of prednisone. Anyway, the question is, the doctor said that I will be better off having a combination of drugs  and offered me 3 options for injections, it is for me to decide what I want to do, but I am not sure. The options are:

1. Enbrel once a week
2. humira once every 2 weeks
3. Remilade infussion every 8 weeks.

She said that remilade is the best, but I have to have time to do it. What do you think I should do? Does anyone has experience with all 3 drugs to make a comparisson? This is so new to me and I am all confused... :) And a little scared... I have been very healthy up until now, and now I have to take all this pills pretty much for the rest of my life. Oh, well, could be worse, right? :) Anyway, let me know about those injections, please!
Have a great weekend,
Anastasia
There really is no "better" drug - we all react differently to them.  What works for one RA sufferer may not work for another.  My sister and I both have it and are on entirely different drug protocols.  One of her drugs makes me sick as a matter of fact!  Unfortunately w/RA it's one big experiment so please follow your doctor's advice.  Best wishes to you. Each person reacts to each med differently.  You  might want to check with your insurance carrier.  For many, the med choice is dictated by insurance requirements.  Ex: no Remicade until you have tried an injectable.  excellent information from Rebecca and Tara.

I have only used enbrel and to my great satisfaction I am feeling pretty good with my disease.
Thank you, everybody! I really appreciate your input...
AnastasiaYou have been given good advice, Anastasia - just remember - don't be scared off by all the lists of side effects as most of them don't happen - and also remember that the side-effect of untreated RA is bad  :o !  the quicker and the harder you can hit "Arthur" the better.  Hope you get a med that suits you and that is covered by your insce.
Lorraineany doctor that tells you there is no chance of remission should be replaced...that means when you are controlled she will sstop trying for that remission
any doctor that tells you there is no chance of remission should be replaced...that means when you are controlled she will sstop trying for that remission
agreed!!Thank you for your opinions, I really appreciate it! I made another appointment with a different doctor on July 17. I dont really think that this woman doctor is agressive enough, and it is me who will live with this not her. So, thank you for helping me make this decision...wish you well, Anastasia
