Question: What causes pain? | Arthritis Information

I am feeling pretty good..

I have minimal inflammation.. Only one knee and my ankles sometimes and my  hands when I really over do...

I stopped the NSAIDs.. because they were raising my BP and without swelling..I didn't feel I needed them..  but I have pain.. sometimes quite a bit..  some joints feel like they want to just break out of the parts holding them in.. my hips, right ankle and knee.. with shooting pain that stops me in my tracks.

And I realize I have some damage from probably years and years of RA..

Is my pain damage?  Is it what is causing my pain?

Should I have it all evaluated?  by whom?  A orthopedic?

I see my RD next Tuesday...

Thanks for the input...

In my opinion, a visit to the ortho is a good call.

Bone on bone damage is very painful!  X-rays, an MRI all might be very helpful in getting to the bottom of the problem
If you get an MRI on those parts of the body that are causing you pain then you will get a very clear picture of the damage that this disease has caused.

You will then have a better understanding of the choices that you can make.

Just sent in an appointment application to Rothman Institute..

Thanks!

I appreciate the input...   I"ll update.
Ortho sounds like the way to go but wait till you've seen your RD.  Could be a combination of inflammation and damage.  I'm way too familiar with that type of pain.  You can have inflammation without swelling.  Take care.  LindyWouldn't it be great in instances like this to have both docs at the appointment together?  Instead of the back-n-forth that can take weeks, just get everyone together and figure it out. From your lips to God's ear, Jas.  Don't we wish the medical community was that coordinated and efficient.

Babs I hope you get answers, from someone, soon.  That kind of grinding pain can wear a person down, I know.

you make me laugh so hard, Snow!!!  love that picture in my mind!

I see my RD on the 29th.. I have my ortho appointment on 7/2...

I know the RD is going to say that I should take my NSAID anyway... but with out  inflammation... and a raise in my BP... to me that says no to the NSAID unless needed..

I feel some grinding.. in my right knee specifically..

but the feeling that my hips pop out and that shooting pain that takes my breath away happens then..
that's the one I want addressed mostly..

gnash teeth) A good whallop up-side the head sounds mighty tempting and quite satisfying!

thanks rab.. I am seeing RD on Tuesday... I will definitely tell him my issues..

I appreciate your input everyone!
