Anyone else on Celebrex? | Arthritis Information

I'm newly diagnosed with RA and I've been taking Prednisone and Celebrex for a little over a month now. I am definitely better but still not at all comfortable. My doc increased my Prednisone to 10 mg a day, and added MTX 10 mg a week to start. She said I can take up to 2 Celebrex (200mg each) a day but with the side effects, I should try just 1 a day if I can.

Is there anyone taking 400 mg of Celebrex a day? Any problems with that dose? The info I've read about the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and bleeding has me afraid to take more. The stiffness is horrible and I can barely sleep at night because of shoulder pain. I guess it's going to take a while for everything to kick in since my RA factor was 281. Thanks. I take 400 mgs of Celebrex and have for I think about 10 yrs now.  So far I haven't had any problems.  Celebrex has really helped with the inflammation.  I take 400 mg. in the am.  and have been for the last 9 years or so with no problems.  LindyI have been taking Celebrex ever since it first became available in Australia (even before it went on our Pharm. Benefits list of part-subsidised meds) as the Naprosyn the rheumy had me on for some years was giving me gut probs and also made my brain feel more like cotton wool.

Was started on 200 mg for a while - had no ill-effects so in 3 months the dosage was increased to 400 mg - one 200 mg capsule in morning, the other in evening.  Took a few months for effects to be noticeable.  Have not had any bad side effects, and my stomach is v. much happier and so is my brain!

bfils, hope it works for you.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad I asked. I have high blood pressure and I guess that was part of the fear. I'm going to start today with one capsule twice a day and maybe stop reading these medication inserts, or at least try to remember that they have to warn you of everything.

Thank you for helping me feel better about the Celebrex!
