For 20 yrs., I've lived in this apt. with my 2 cats. They give me so much comfort and joy. I've never kept it a secret that I have them. Now with this new property managment company, they have sent out notices that the cats have to go. Certain people have complain about the outdoor cats. My cats don't go out! I have it stated in my lease that I can have them. These new managment people said that they are doing what the landlord told them to do. I told them that the lease is a binding document. Then I told them that will have to talk to my lawyer. So now we're at a standstill.
The people that complain have moved out but still they want no pets. As most of you who have pets, they are the best therapy for you.
To move right now is very hard as I'm resticted on what I can do. Plus I still may have to have more surgery on the shoulder.
I don't want to give up my place nor the cats!
There are 2 other families with cats and they aren't getting the same treatment as me. I think that this is just the landlord trying to get me to move so he can get new people in with a higher rent.
I look at my girls and just start to cry. They will do something to make me feel better as they know something is wrong and I'll just get weep eye.
Thanks for letting me vent. I'll let you know what happens.

MarisaI hope you stand your ground.  Try getting a consultation with a real estate attorney.  They can't break from a contract, I would think.  I know a good website called lawguru.com -- you can find your state and post for help about legal problems.  Check them out.  Good luck. Thanks Arizonara. I will look into the web site.

MarisaAs if you didn't have enough to deal with.  I'm sorry.  Please keep us updated and yes, I'm a HUGE animal lover, they do so much good for us.   If you have a lease, and the lease isn't up, they can't change it. They have
to wait until the lease expires. Doesn't matter that they're a new
management company. They're bound by the old agreement. Once the
lease is up, unfortunately, they can make changes. However, I don't think
they're allowed to treat you any differently than anyone else. So...all pets
go, or not pets go. There are laws. They do have to follow them.Good luck girl, I am sorry it is causing you stress. I know how therapuetic animals can be.  I love my doggies. They know just how to make a bad day good again.  I hope these people will back off and leave you alone..  Hope everything goes well.   Thanks to all for the advice. I had long talks with the other tenants and we all agree to get a lawyer to look into the problem. Then I turn around and had a long talk with the management comp. agent. As of now they have backed down. I just told him what was what and told him that if everybody has to adbid by the rules, then these people are in violation. I gave him the list of names, dates, facts and pictures. I even had his own repair people on the list. Then I told him that I had a nice lawsuit and that I would win. I also told him that if the landlord needs to spell out the rules as it's the outdoor cats that are creating the problem. I suggested that if you have cats, no more than 2, that they are to remain indoors or can go outside on a harness. Plus I made other suggestions that the rest of the cat owning people suggested. It's a win -win resoution for all.

MarisaThat's wonderful, Marisa. It's one for the good guys. Glad you can keep
your kitties, since they need you & you need them.
