Cortisone shot | Arthritis Information

I had a cortisone shot on Tuesday and my arm is still stiff and sore.  Can anyone tell me from their experience if this is nornal?

My symptoms were somewhat mild but I was afraid they would worsen and I wouldn't be able to swim.  My feet are bothering me so I like to do something for exercise.

Now I wonder if I  made a bad decision.

Any one else's experiences would be helpful.

Thanks a lot.

Forget to mention I have bursitisw in my shoulder, at least I think I did!

I never had a problem with them,  sore for a few hours..  Do you swim a lot?                       Most doctors don't give a shot for mild symptoms.

My DR is very careful not to hit a tendon. Maybe yours got nicked. I'm sore for about 24 hrs then releif !!Thanks for your replies.  I am thinking I should have rethought the shot considering my symptoms seem worse now.  I still am not in a great deal f pain, but more than I was before.

I seem to make a lot of mistakes!  I suffered with bursitis quite a lot a few years ago, eventually it resolved on it's own.  But I thought I would try to nip it in the bud if it happened again.

Thanks again.
Did you rest the joint after the shot?  I find that if I rest it's ok - if I move it a lot it's crap (as I can be inclined to due to the anaesthetic they include that makes it all feel wonderful)  just having received a cortisone shot in my knee.. I will relay what the Ortho said:

I have put in an anesthetic.. that will wear off in about 6 hours..
Take it easy for 48 hours and you may feel an increase of discomfort at that time, but it will get better.

IDK if that's the case for you.. but I hope you find improvement.

I've always felt better after a corto shot.
oh wait.. the papers I received state that it can take 3 to 10 days for the shot to work!! and the relief can last for weeks or months. Bumping to get rid of the spam!

And I hope others will do the same.....
