No Leg Cramps!! | Arthritis Information

As alot of yall know I have been fussing about the cramps in my calves and feet---especially at night.  I got to the point were I was having some really bad dreams every night and I think part of that was a little anxiety about the 'charlie horses' that were sure to come.

Good news!  I tried drinking tonic water (it contains quianine) and it has been working for me!!YIPPEE!!! I guess it has been a week now and I have a glass every night. I pour it over ice and squeeze in some fresh lemon, then I have it to take my bedtime meds and to sip on while I am here.  I bought the sams choice brand at walmart and the diet stuff so no calories or sugar. It is a bit of an aquired taste, the lemon makes a big difference. Now I really am enjoying it.

I also have been trying to eat at least one banana a day, not enough potassium to really make a big difference, but it doesnt hurt. Plus I like bananas.

I know the tonic water  is doing the trick on the leg cramps. I wanted to pass this along. It is not often that problems are resolved so easily for me and I wanted to share. Hopefully any of you others who have been fighting these nasty cramps will have success too.

The small wins in the great battle we all wage with RA are to be savoured and enjoyed.

                   Sleep well!
JCPenny had electric blankets half off - I bought one and used it last night, it was heaven.  Along with my heating pad.  It was so goooooooood.  Nothing like a good night's sleep.  Glad you are getting one more symptom gone.
JC Penny you say?? I will check ours and see if they are on sale here too.  I have been using one of my moms and I really like it. I should get my own though since I have dogs that like to pile up in bed with me. They arent stinky and they dont shed but still...I need my own blankie!  My dogs love the heating blanket.  I have to dump them out of it in the morning!  Otherwise when I get up they just lay there and look at me through squinty, sleepy eyes. Thanks for the quinine tip crunchy and glad it's working.  I've heard about it for fibromyalgia pain.Hey, I am bumping this because I have heard and learned that putting a bar of soap under your sheets at the foot of your bed will get rid of the cramps.

I know it sounds crazy, but people I know and trust swear by it.  So hey, it is worth a try, huh?  Just thought I would share with you all.

OK, I can understand the Quinine water but how does the soap under the blanket .. work?...

Personally myself, I take a big glass of water, throw down my Oxycodone and I am in sleepville.   If that don't work, I take a big glass of Mogan David, pray I make it to the bathroom and then go to  bed...at this point I don't give a d---.

hehehe

AZ-I have heard the same thing about the soap and this came from a nurse that I worked with. Strange but apparently true.

Waddles-just remember that wines fine, but liquors quicker!
