My First RA Appointment | Arthritis Information

I just woke from a nap, and I have to say, I am already feeling SO much better.

I will be temporarily on prednisone for some relief until/if the methatrexate kicks in.  I had liver function and hep B and C test done to find out if I am safe to take MTX first.  Then, if that comes in clean, I will start that soon.  I go back in 5 weeks to see how that is working for me.

She will try to wean me off the prednisone if the MTX works, and then we will look into the more expensive drugs and try them if it comes to that.

She was so wonderful and made me feel like I wasn't just being a baby.  She said I had a severe amount of swelling and felt so bad for me.

She is keeping my costs down without my even asking.  She gave me a huge sample of MTX so I don't have to buy some right away.  She was just wonderful.  She does her blood testing in her office for liver function and it is really inexpensive that way.  I am so glad.  I can afford that test every 8 weeks no problem.

So all in all, my hands and feet have already come down a lot.  I can't believe how different they look already.  I am feeling very hopeful and inspired.  I can at least function again.  I was getting to the point where I couldn't walk more than an inch or two at a time -- and that was starting to be 24/7, not just at night.

I feel human again.  Thanks for listening to me, you all.  It has been nice to read and share with others.  I am really feeling like at least I am getting treatment. I was getting nothing before and it was so painful.  I can't wait to spend a painfree day with my daughter.  Heck, a halfpain day will do!
Yeah pain free at last. Life is good. Enjoy every moment of it.That is great news! Congratulations. It's amazing what it feels like to not
hurt, isn't it? I'm sorry prednisone is so evil, since it does such amazing
stuff. I'm off it now, but I wish I weren't. I hope the methotrexate works
for you.

Glad you're feeling a bit better and that you had a good app't.  Sounds like you have a good doctor.to cure RA the most important is find a good doctor. the skill of the doctor is more important than drug. becasue the doctor have find out which kind RA you have. each patient is a indenpent individul the situation is dfferent even they looks like same.
RA can be cured if the doctor diagnose right first and give the proper treatment.

I am so happy for you Arizona.  It feels so good to finally get some treatment and prednisone is HEAVEN at first.  The results are quick and what a relief.  Just keep in mind, you don't want to stay on it long term.

I am so happy you inflammation is coming down.  I predict a play day with your daughter soon  I go to ra next week. She will do some blood work. It's been 4 months since I have seen her. PatMaybe you should recomened your doc for the people here. a good doctor need be advertised. otherwise no people will know. It could help a lot of people. so that people don't waste time and life on bad ones.
