Okay, so today was my first day and I am doing WW points system. It was a decent day. Not as good as it could have been though. I had oatmeal and cofee for breakfast, a turkey sandwhich and two low-fat cookies for lunch, and dinner I had a salad and here is the place wear I used up all of the rest of my points for the day...spinach stuffed caneloni and veal topped with artichoke hearts and marinara sauce. Sooo good but I think that whole thing was like 18points. So I have to take some out of little bank of extra points for the week. No going over on my daily allowances for the rest of the week. That is okay-Saturday is always the splurge day. I WILL be 3 lbs lighter by the end of the week. And look below---I am officially off of the Prednisone as of today!!! Hope every one else did well today, if not, there is always tomorrow. Good luck!
Sounds like you had a good start (dinner may have been 18 points but it sounded delicious).
I have filled the fridge with fresh fruit and promise to snack on that rather than cookies and other sweets...ice cream, chocolate, cake, sugar, sugar, sugar...
Icy cold grapes, juicy nashi, luscious nectarines, crisp new season apples, canteloupe and watermelon. Hmm I think I need a snack...see ya later.
Sound like you are off to a good start! I need groceries desperatly. That is one of the biggest downfalls of the dieter---LACK OF PLANNING!! Let me serve as an example to all of you...I didnt plan and look what I did, I ate a take-out dinner that certainly did not help my diet!!! Oh for SHAME!!
Now Pammy, tell me, what is nashi??
I am doing well so far. I do feel the hunger from the prednisone
coming on more every day though. I am working hard to fight
it. I think it is even harder because it gives me mood swings,
which make me want to eat. I am battling it by keeping good foods
around and almost zero junk.
It does make a difference when you accept the fact that you are going to want to snack. If you have fresh veggies and fat free dip or dressing, low fat popcorn, and sugar free drinks on hand that helps. The main thing that you want to look for is lower fat, low or no sugar, and low calories combined with high fiber content. Your body needs the fiber and it makes you feel fuller and stay satisfied longer. The sugary stuff is what keeps you snacking all day---empty calories. Ever notice how a donut is like eating sugar air? Nothing to nourish your body at all--a boiled egg is less 'points' and is much more filling.Yeah, I see myself craving the carbs already. I do go for whole
grains and veggies. I drink loads of water. I am actually
pretty good about avoiding dressings. I have accustomed myself to
eating raw veggies plain, same with fruit.
The reading I have done on prednisone, I think that maintaining my
salt/water balance is going to be key. I am eating cucumbers as a
natural diuretic and eating bananas for the potassium. I am
trying not to eat miserably so that I still enjoy my food.
I figure, if I eat great healthy 85% of the time, I can have that good
meal 15% of the time. Knowing me, I will not last with diet
changes if I deprive myself of everything good. I am slowly
learning what is still satisfying and yummy to me and healthy at the
same time.
One of the real keys is finding ways to make the healthy stuff BE the good stuff. That way you dont feel like you are depriving yourself. I am a real big pasta eater and the only way I survived before was the WW, lean cuisine and healty choice frzn meals. Everything is measured for you and they are so convienient. Just have a salad before and a yogurt after. Try to eat slower and savor each bite. I have a bad habit of eating in front of the TV. Not concentrating on the flavor of the food I am eating makes it easy to over eat.
