Have you any of you experienced Ear pressure/pain as part of your disease course? I've read about AIED (Auto Immune Inner Ear Disease) and that it often comes with AI diseases like RA. I've also read that ear pain can be symptom of plaqeneil. My RD blew me off when I asked her about it but it has been going on for a few months now. It is primarily my right ear and it comes and goes. Just feels like I landed from an airplane and it needs to pop...

Thanks for any insight!I have a hearing loss...

and I have times when the  inner part of the ear (as far as I go into the ear) is smaller when I clean it at times... is that inflammation?  what else could cause it?

And during the time I was taking my NSAIDS, my hearing greatly improved.

I do not nor have I ever used plaquenil
yes my ra affected my hearing the tissue between the little bones in my left ear swelled caused ringing then loss of hearing with ringing  all due to ra or the meds.  i had many surgeries on that ear.   still deaf and still ringing.   i was on plaquenil for at least 18 years but mine started with remicade.  i blame remicade.  went to many ear doctors finally gave up.  one more thing i have to live with until heaven.  it feels very clogged to at different times according to the pressure outside or my stress level.I have had this problem for almost a year. I feel like Darth Vader talking, where you can here yourself breathing, talking etc.  Its also like someone put a bucket over my head and it's 3x louder. They getthis  clogged feeling and keep trying to pop them all day, pops in and out all the time, but then its like it gets stuck open to where I can hear myself breathing, everythings extra  loud...It stays like this until i go to sleep, I get up in the morning and its normal again. It started in my right ear and after several months moved to my left ear. My old PCP said he's run into an RA patient where her RA affected her inner ear and wonders if this is what's happening with me. I was on Plaquenil for about a year several years ago, but stopped. I think as others, it has to do with RA/Inflammation. It's almost a daily thing for me. I havent persued anything further..I'm sick of dr. appts right now! LOL
