I have a 12yr old blue-tick and his joints get swollen and feel hot to the touch.

Anybody else got a pet with arthritis?

not at present.. but I have had dogs with arthritis.. My puppies are 6, 6, and 7 now, so they are getting along well.

I have given my dogs a glucosamine mix that the vet gave me which did help w/ the osteo.
Yes, my older cat (almost 18) has significant arthritis in his hips.I give my dog an aspirin with his food and it helps,I can tell in the way he hunts....:)
First of all you need to remember that dogs don't get RA they can only get OA !!
Glucosamine does help & certainly works for some pets, the recommended dose by my vet is 2 teaspoons a day for a 25-30 kg dog.  I used this for a while in combination with cod liver oil capsules (1 a day) with my old dog, before he passed, & he was like a puppy for about 10 months, it certainly helped delay giving him heavier meds.

my doggie is 11 and she has arthrits in her back left hip.   i buy some natural products from my vet and she takes duramax.  we hurt on the same days.  she is my best friend and she always knows when i feel bad.  this summer has really been hard on her, the heat and humidity have been unbearable even in the house she pants.  i love her so very much but when she can no longer get up or stand.  i will know.  we are both missing our walks.  hoping soon the weather improves :-)   she loves to walk and play ball.   the playing ball part is a bit tricky with the bad hip.
Yes, my older cat (almost 18) has significant arthritis in his hips.
Ditto here.
my cat is almost 16, this dec. The vet has said, he has arthritis in his back, poor baby!
he walks funny, kinda like a drunk. I give him vitimins, they're a bit expensive, but the vet insisted it was really impt, that he take them..DasQuin, is the name and yes, they have
glusomaine in them.
There are days, when he really hurts... esp when i have to have the ac on.. or cold in winter.. but there are days, that he takes such joy in life!!
I feel lucky to have him, I keep a close eye on him :)

Also note: its really impt, to NEVER give asprin to cats!!
