I may now have insurance! | Arthritis Information

I could not believe my ears so I made the gentleman on the phone tell me again...YES I NOW HAVE INSURANCE. I can now get Enbrel and Miacalcin and all my pain meds and my Celexa or something similar,my Xanax, Prevacid or something similar and my patch for estrogen all with a co-pay of . After 19 months of waiting and phone calls and disappointment and pain and not much courage I finally punched through to the side of "The Land of Insurance Coverage"!!!!!

Now all I have to do is make Dr. appts., have my PCP here contact my RD in Indiana and get this show on the road! I am almost hesitant to be excited about it now, so I will only comment that it is "LOOKIN GOOD" for me to get back on meds.

BIG SIGH and happiness and a super duper cheer!

I was so grateful I was fighting back the tears of joy ...then thought to myself...no sireeee, I have waited a long time for this, so I let the tears flow and finally felt the joy. Yay!  I am so happy for you.  I feel your pain, being without insurance myself.  I got a 200 dollar blood test bill in the mail today.
Awesome
I hope I will be making a post like this myself.

Oh Hopefully you will be. It makes all the difference in the world, just the thought that I will be on insurance, that I can begin aggressively treating RA and OA again...new hope has come. I worry so much at times because I am fearful for what else my daughter will have to endure through all this RA. It has not been too fun for her let me tell you, but she is with me and she is safe so that counts for something.

It has taken over 1 year and 7 months, and I still have heard nothing from SSI which has been the same amount of time. All that time without my meds sure makes me appreciate them that is for sure.

I am not sure if the RD will want more blood work done or not. Who knows.

Apply for everything is all I have to say. It has been so discouraging I cannot even begin to tell you. Then when I went to an RD here in Michigan, the bill was 0 when I left the office that day plus all the blood work. It was over 00.00 my mom had to pay out for me just for my RD and dx here in Michigan. What a rip off!!!!!!!!!!!

I have insurance. I was diagnosed in December, and I'm STILL waiting for
treatment. My doctor prescribed Humira for me last week. Insurance is
thinking about it. I just keep thinking about my bones disintegrating out
from under me while I wait. I'm in Michigan, too, Badbones. I hope you
move along a little quicker than I am. As you said, the weather here
doesn't help - but today's a pretty good day. Next weekend, not so much.

AZ, I'm thinking about you. Dealing with the disease is hard enough.
Trying to do it without insurance, all that much harder. Good luck!

I would even take MTX injectable, I don't care what it is as long as I have something to slow this RA down and bring em a bit of relief!

Not having insurance has been awful. I just could not take my RA meds, I could only take the minimal pain relief and that was getting too expensive.

SO much for the cost of RA!

I am so happy for you. I am lucky enough to have insurance but unfortunatly it doesnt cover Humira or Remicade and Enbrel is a Prior Authorization so the co-pay is way up there. But still am grateful to have insurance at all.

I am really happy to hear you got coverage! I am sure you feel like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders. I talk to patients all the time about the importance of obtaining medical insurance. Alot of people think "I am young and healthy, I can get insurance later" They dont realize that the status of your health can change in an instant. Not just like an accident, but like you go to the doctor because you think you have the flu. Your body aches and your tired all of the time. And maybe you have a little fever. Next thing you know you get a bunch of expensive tests and a dx of RA. Costly treatments and a longterm illness.  You guys have been run through the ringer over this burden. You are the advocates that can tell your healthy friends just how important securing that med. insurance plan really is.  Most people never have to go through the tragedy of a house fire but they wouldnt skip a day on their homeowners policy. But they just dont realize that just b/c your sick doesnt mean you are going to be able to get the meds you need unless you have a lot of money. They just dont have any idea the reality of what you guys and others  like yall have really had to endure.

okay---I'm off of the soap box now sorry...got lost there.

Again, glad to know that things are falling into place for you.

Can I ask what company approved you? I have been turned down by so many insurance companies that I have just quit looking!

Great news badbones. I know it must be a great relief to have coverage. The biologics sure helped me and I bet they help you too.

I too would like to know what company you got insurance through...I have no insurance and had to have gallbladder surgery...I now owe over ,000.00...how we will pay it I just don't know!

Anyway, it is nice to know you now have coverage! Hooray!!
