Knee Help Please? | Arthritis Information

Diagnosed with RA two years ago...mostly have issues with my knees and shoulders. I work out regularly, though I've had to lighten the weights somewhat and modify when I'm aggravating the joint of the month. Also, I'm not overweight. I'm 44 years old. Okay, that said...my right knee plagues me and swells, but right now it's extremely swollen. It looks like a balloon. Dr x-rayed it a few months back and told me I have bone spurs that need to be cleaned out.

My insurance is horrible and does not cover my RA right now so going to the doctor is not an option unless I have to. My questions are:

* anyone who has gone through this - does it need to be drained?
* Anything I can do besides ice to keep it down?
* Any other advice?

It's driving me crazy. Btw, it swells when I'm not active, exercise actually seems to help. It swells when I'm not active, hurts after exercise.Fun isn't it! Standing aggravates mine, too. I've been icing and then taking a warm bath and icing again. Will try heat for sure...
