and non losers too... as many of you know a few of us are on the war path to get rid of the pounds put on by weeks, months, years of prednisone, stress, being to tired to cook a proper meal, child bearing and or child rearing, and maybe a little bit of pure over indulgence. I know that so many of you, like myself have tried all kinds of bizarre fad diets, diet pills, and diet programs. Please, if you would be so kind, share with us some of the things that worked and didnt work. Good and bad, we would love to hear about your experiences. It is informative and beneficial to us all, and also very interesting to discover that we all have trials and tribulations when it comes to dieting.

Cant wait to hear from yall!!

I have actually done the cabbage soup diet. You can still find it on the web. I did it when I was about 21 and only wanted to lose 10 lbs and it worked. I did it again about a year or two ago and only lost like 5 lbs which came right back. You make this huge pot of cabbage soup and you can eat it as much as you want and then on different days you have things like only bananas and milk, or only fruit but no bananas. You get tired of the soup after the first 2-3 days.  It is pretty close to a clense or near fast.  I dont think it is good unless you really only have 10 lbs to lose for a party or something. You really lose 10 lbs of fat. Most of it is probably water loss. It is really weird.

I also tried atkins. I couldnt eat all of that meat. I lasted 2 days the first time, reread the book and tried again. I was really strict on it for 1 week. When I got on the scale I had lost less than 1/2 a pound. Good-bye Atkins diet!

There's no one diet plan but you can look up the type of foods suggested on the net. I'd recommend it to anyone :D

Moonie x

Drinking lots of water, eating moderately and exercising is the only thing that has really worked for me.  I have to do it all the time to maintain though.  It is really a lifetsyle for me if I want to do it.

I also find that vitamins help me because I have the nutrition I need, I have fewer cravings.

I also think it is important to enjoy the foods you do eat.  If you are miserable, your eating habits will never last.

Moonie-it is interesting that you mention the mediteranean diet because I have a book about arthritis and it actually recommeds the mediteranean diet to better control the arthritis.  I think that it sounds pretty good.

AZ-I have to have a little more structure if I want to lose. I can eat alot of food and portion control is one big issue for me. I agree that having well rounded nutrition does provide more energy and keep you full longer. That is why the fad diets never last. Who can drink slim-fast 2 meals a day for the rest of their lives?  Or eat cabbage soup every day!!??

Oh yeah...what about the Hollywood Juice diet? For about you can by a 2qt. jug of juice and you drink juice and water for 2 days. You lose a bunch of weight right away...Sounds bad, huh? My cousin did that one, she said to clense her system before starting another diet.  Sounds to me like you get the runs for 2 days...I never wanted to do that one.
