disability accomodation | Arthritis Information
Has anyone ever been sucessful in requesting disability accomodation for PMR from their employer I am in the process of doing just this and am interested to know if anyone else has been through the process thanks for any inputWhat kind of work do you do Parker? Have you had a chance to discuss this with your employer yet? Sorry, lots of questions but no answers.
My last two jobs were very strenuous with lots of lifting, bending and twisting so I ended up having to quit and file for SSDI. I have other issues besides PMR though.
Good Luck with this. One thing, I remember having a doctor once that told me she could request a ergonomic evalution of my job. Ergonomics is making the job work with your body not against it. This may be something to consider.
oh thanks for the answer I am actually an RN and I work in the Operating room my job can be physically demanding at times but as I'm trying to convince my employer I can do my job and can function because of the steroid medication we must take in order to have a life what they want to do ( and have done) is make me work 5 nights instead of 4
both my doctor and I have repeatedly discussed the ever present fatigue that NO medication will treat I am supposed to hear this week and I have a feeling it wont be in my favor so then I will need to take the next step will keep you informed thanks!
hey everyone guess what I actually got approved for my disability accomodation it seems the bilateral knee effusions and difficulty walking prior to taking medication suits the criteria for ADA disabiity allowance so in case anyone is going to or is facing similar situations at work here in the US read your guidelines from the American with Disabilities act and the criteria in policy at your workplace I did not ask for any special treatment I just asked to remain on a 4 day workweek which I was on for 3 years but they wanted to change me to a 5 day workweek as we all have experienced if you get run down or start to relapse or just in general you dont need a physical reason with this condition - fatigue will sideline you and render you incabable until your body is ready to move on
