Has anyone had Synovial injections (Synvisc)? | Arthritis Information

In an attempt to postpone my eventually inevitable knee replacement, I am considering having synovial injections.

Have any of you had these?  Are they or did they work?

I would appreciate any and ALL information and experiences you may have had.

THANKS!!~!!
just going to bump up on first page..

hoping someone has some info..

thanks!!
I had one Synvisc injection several years ago, but was not able to have the other two injections, as the first one made me extremely swollen for many weeks...had to have multiple aspirations. Although it didn't work for me, I'd certainly give it a try! [QUOTE=babs10]In an attempt to postpone my eventually inevitable knee replacement, I am considering having synovial injections.

Sorry Babs...but I don't know anything about synovial injections

Sure hope they do the trick for your painful knee
I want to talk w/ my RD... and hoped that I would get some positive feedback on AI..

Guess not!

well... I'll be your guinea pig I guess..
hey babs,
I had the shots in 1999 which gave me relief for about yhree months. i noticed difference on first shot.  the shots are made of chicken so cant be allegric to eggs and chicken. i ended up getting both knees replaced after that. hope that helps you.

:)
((mabus))  how are you??

Thanks for replying!  I want to buy myself time until May-ish.. I hear they will do these shots every 6 months....

Hi I can reccomend neovisc shots. I choose neovisc over synvisc for no particular reason. My first shot gave me instant relief  and lasted for about 6 months. I had neovisc injections to prolong the inevitable bilatteral TKR.  I did these injections along with 2 leg braces and cortisone injections to by me more time as I was only 50 when PA went for both my knees rather aggressively.I highly reccomend the shots but you should be aware that only about 65 or 70% of the persons get relief. I have had one TKR ( Jan 2010) and am having another in 2 weeks. All I can say is I am glad I only have 2 knees.
