Please give me your imput as I need advice on which way to go. Is it better to have wireless of stay plugged in? I'm getting so confused looking at all these different models that are in the newspaper ads.
Please help me!!!

Marisahi Marisa, lm definate no expert on this but l did once consider buying myself a laptop and my son put me off saying its harder in the hands and as l said l wanted to use it when l sitting in bed he thought l may get problems on trying to read the screen as it has to stay still or u get distortion,As l have to keep moving even when sitting in bed(or l seize up) l decided against buying one.JI have had a PC for pretty much my whole life. I got my first laptop for Christmas this year and I absolutly love it. The flat keyboard takes and adjustment if you are already used to typing on an angled keyboard, but it is not less comfortable. For me it is actually nicer b/c I can rest my  wrists against the lower portion of the computer. I can take it anywhere in the house and I recently bought a lap-desk and it is even better. A lap desk is just one of those little boards with a bean-bag pillow attached to one side. It raises the computer up so I can lay on the couch with it on my lap. A TV tray with little legs would work too. I love the fact that it doubles as a DVD player that I can take with me...it came in handy when my son was in the hospital because while they have a TV/VCR and video library in the room, 3days of kiddie shows was enough for me. I was able to watch my own movies with a set of headphones right there in the room.  If you dont have a PC at all, then you will need to make sure you have a modem for your laptop. I have a PC upstairs that has internet access so I just bought a router for  and hooked it up to the PC. It sends a signal to the laptop and I am completely wireless except for the power cord. The laptop will run off of battery power too though. I can even sit on my porch with it. I would highly recommend one. If you are really not sure, most rental places like Rent-a-center and Aarons have laptops. You could get one for a week and see what you think. I dont have any problems with distortion on the screen with mine either. Mine is a HP with a Celeron processor, we got it through Circuit City. Hope this helps...good luck. I use both.  I have a laptop for work and it is very comfortable to sit in the bed with pillows situated for comfort and work.  I get a lot of work done that way.

I think it is a personal choice.  I think either way, you will be happy with a new computer.  :)
I have both and love having my laptop because I can use it when I need to keep my feet up.  I have a wireless mouse for mine and it makes thing a lot easier. I can also take it when I want to go sit outside.   Thanks for the advice and after I get out from shoulder therapy, I'm going to go look at laptops and desktops. This internet cafe is nice but not like I can sit in the comfort of my home with the PJ's on and my favorite coffee, tea, or juice drink near by. Hopefully I'll get a better idea as to what I want and have space for.

MarisaI had a desktop for years and recently got a laptop.  I absolutely love the laptop.  I can take it anywhere in the house and I find it is easy to use.  I hardly use the desktop anymore at all.  I went through Gateway.com...they had a good deal going on and I've had the least problem with Gateways.  Went to look at new PC's and walk out of the store with a new one. It was a good deal as it included the monitor and a printer.
Spent last night setting up everything with the help of my neighbor. I couldn't carry the boxes up the stairs, have a very hard time with them, and I was afraid that I would drop them if I used my rolling crate thing. Roomie wasn't home and if he was, he's NO HELP. He can't even put things together with the instructions in front of him.
Now to learn all the features on this thing as my old one was just a internet only thing.

I also have both and admit I prefer typing on my desk top....but that's only because I'm more use to that. It's SUPER nice to be able to be on-line from the comfort of my bed though. Many times I need to be off my feet and it's so nice to still feel connected.

Either way your going to be thrilled just to have one in your home period. You're going to love that!!
