Sorry to get this going so late...I have not been home today. Anyways I did good today. I did use up my points though and it is only 9:30 so I cant snack! That is okay, I will make a pitcher of sugar-free koolaid. That always satisfies my sweet tooth. I love the crystal light and sugar free tang also. They really help me get by. I read about a study that was done recently that disproves the theory about the need to drink plain water in order to hydrate the body properly. It says that our body takes water from food and beverages and as long as you are getting your water that way, you will stay hydrated. I will try to find it on the web and link it. It is interesting and I am all for not having to force down bottle after bottle of water every day. Just drinking sugar free drinks helps to curb the appetite. I have heard that too many sodas (reg or diet) are not good because they contain phosphates which contributes to bone loss--or something like that.

Just thought I'd let you know I got back today after a bad experience with doc in Missouri and other things. I got the links fixed to the sero neg ra post. Know you asked me to update and letting you know. Later. Sharon

Well, I did great all day.  BUT my mom made a big turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and stuffing.  I over ate like Thanskgiving, but I was so minimal all day knowing what was in store.

Sigh...I think it was worth it.  I haven't gained any weight so far on this pred.  But it has only been a week.  I have been eating very carefully and balanced.

SG-I responded to your other post about the dr. visit in hell.

AH well...tomorrow is a new day

Day five and I've been trying to watch what I eat. Only had a little slip on Sunday when the roomie and I went out to eat at this Thi food place. He had this beef noodle w/ vegs. Me, I had a salad w/ dressing on the side.
Today, for breakfast, my usual, 3 slices of whole grain honey nut bread w/ light margine.
No lunch unless it's a piece of fruit.
Dinner will be steamed vegs w/ chicken, no skin or salt, and left over steamed rice. The vegs and rice are plain, nothing added. My roomie doesn't like my food as he said it has no taste.
Dessert is one or two cookies, depends on size and fat content, with my cup of vanilla coffee w/ sugar and fat free half and half.
Then later, I'll have a piece of fruit W/ a glass of fat free milk and one or two rice cakes.
As you can see, I eat very plain food, okay it's cardboard, but I find that if I add salt free or lower salt sauces and spice blends, that it gives the food more favor. Stir frys are done with spray on oils and a little chicken or 4% ground beef. It takes some time to get use to but now when I eat regular food, with over 7grms of fat, I can't stand it. Plus I start putting on the lbs. which is very hard on my joints as most of my weight is carried in my hips!
With Easter coming and the candy , I must close my eyes and tell myself that if I eat it, forget getting in to my size 18 jeans!

   Marisa

Marisa, it is so true about the flavor of the foods. So many people are used to adding lots of seasonings and sauces to foods that all you taste is the seasoning and sauce. By keeping dishes very simple you can bring out the natural flavor of the foods and it is an amazing transformation. You really will be more satisfied by the foods you eat. This is especially true of veggies.

Does anyone ever eat lentils? I started making them a few years ago just by following the directions on the bag. They are very simple, fast and easy to make and are really good. Also cheap.
