Hi
I've been diagnosed with PMR and started 25mg of Pred.  Side effects were manageable except the high blood pressure.  Anyone got any advice re that.  My BP which was in the med 120s is now in the high 160s and is very uncomfortable.
thanks
Terry
Hi Terry,

Elevated BP is one of the known side effects of taking Prednisone.  That's a pretty big jump though - 120 to 160 systolic.  I've had mine go up that high and I know what you mean by not feeling well. My face would feel flushed, and overall just really felt on edge.

I would call your Dr. about this.

That very high rise in blood pressure happened to me to along with quite an increase in weight gain. My doctor increased my blood pressure medication . Eventually as my prednisone level decreased and some of the weight came off, my blood pressure came into normal range again. That took about nine months. I have opted to try exercising my way through PMR hoping for some bone density to be maintained. Suggest you just rest though when your body tells you through symptoms.  So sorry for your awful discomfort. Even now that I have had  my first anniversary with PMR, I still get symptoms that surprise me unpleasantly.
