ScienceDaily (Sep. 13, 2010) — Repeated use of an antibiotic that is considered generally benign, because users seldom incur obvious side effects, induces cumulative and persistent changes in the composition of the beneficial microbial species inhabiting the human gut, researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine have found.

Clindamyicin? Check spelling. Usually used for bone injuries is the biggest one you need to worry about. I have known a friend and a brother to get bacterial cholitis from it.

I do not take it often. It is one of the few antibiotics I can take. Maybe once every two years I take it. Knee surgery or bone infections or stubborn strep. I usually do fine.

Well I am constantly on abx. Between the dryness of the Sjorgren's and the nonability to make antibodies against strep. If anyone had an altered gut it should be me.

I eat yogurts and sour cream. Fruits and everything. My diet is constantly as diverse as I can make it. My thoughts are if I eat a bit of this and a bit of that I may get a good gut variety. I want to make sure I do not miss anything.

I occassionaly buy probiotics. With the price of food these days Hmmm not so much. I do keep up on my yogurt and sour cream. French oinion dip can be concidered good for you. LOL
