Dose Increase Little Help with Anti-TNF Drugs

Increasing the dose of an anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) drug in patients with rheumatoid arthritis is unlikely to increase the therapeutic response, an observational study found.

For patients on infliximab (Remicade), adalimumab (Humira), or etanercept (Enbrel), those who had a dose increase saw only a small improvement in disease activity at three months, and the change was significant only for those on etanercept, researchers in the Netherlands reported in the September issue of Arthritis Care & Research.
