Anyone have Throat Problems? | Arthritis Information

Has anyone had pain or lumps etc in their throat related to RA ?   I know it can affect your voicebox.

I get this pain that moves from spot to spot in my throat. It comes and goes like a light switch...usually only lasts a day, then moves.  One day its at the top near my Uvula (if thats the correct name...LOL), the next its on the bottom, center one just one side of the other of my throat, today its on the right upper side...Doesnt feel like the same pain you get from a sore throat from coughing or nasal drip etc.   Almost feels like its a lump that catches when i swallow. Its hurts to cough, yawn, touch it or even talk at times.
RA can effect the Cricoarytoid joint in your voice box, you might ask your Dr. about it. I don't have pain as such, but my throat doesn't seem to close properly.  When I eat milk and cereal, for example, if I don't keep my head tipped down the milk runs down my throat and makes me cough.  I keep my chin tucked when eating liquid stuff.  I have a lumpy feeling at the top of my throat/mouth.. and sometimes it feels like it's full of mucus or something.. but it isn't.

I do not, however have any pain..

and I think my "feelings" in my throat are due to the Sjogrens and lack of moisture.

strange how this disease affects so many different things. Thanks guys.I  don't have pain but I do feel like I have trouble swallowing at times.  I never thought about this being related to RA?  Something to check into I guess.Don't think you have trouble with swallowing and RA. First diagnosis then result show you have or not. I do understand for your worries. Take a proper medication as per physician directions.
