I am pissed they would infer she died of poly.

She died of old age and she happened to have poly as far as I am concerned!

I'm not an expert but I think you are right.
Thanks for posting this; it's interesting in the sense that we (or I, anyway) so rarely see this disease mentioned in the media. Even though I think they are completely wrong in what they are saying!
Marianne - how right you are! Funny how they never say a 94-year-old died after a "battle" with life or osteoarthritis.

Freesia - there was an article about PMR on a German TV programme last week. It was - to be fair - called "Visite" which is basically "At the Doctor"! It was a bit sketchy but accurate as far as it went. I missed the phone in bit as I had to catch it up online even though I have German TV here at home.

However - they mentioned the fact that by the time people are in their 80s probably at least 50% of them will have some degree of PMR but it's usually just thought of as being part of old age by that stage and anyway even without PMR you'll be pretty stiff and have sore joints. I could be rather cynical and wonder if a fly rheumy saw a good way of charging a celebrity for repeated consultations????
i AM WATCHING THE TODAY SHOW. Coming up in the next half hour they are going to talk about her and her life and legacy.  I saw that. Very nice--she really seemed like a nice woman and it was heartwarming to hear about her tv family being such good friends.

No mention of PMR, though.

Mrs. E, I'm glad the German show was accurate in its reporting on PMR.  That's also interesting about how many people over 80 may actually have it, but it's considered just part of old age!
