ANOTHER ONE!!! | Arthritis Information

At my house we have 4 cats and 1 dog, all which were unwanted or abadoned pets.  Yes at times it gets crazy and at times I wonder why we keep them all but we do.  Well my husband came home  with another cat Wen. night!!!!!  He got it from the dog pound, she was found  abandoned along the roadside, she's about 7 yrs old and a persian.

She is a peach color with big orange eyes and that pushed in nose, you know the one I'm talking about where it looks like someone pushed her nose in with a hammer.  Poor thing has a bunch of matted fur too.  He told me he got her because the pound told him if no one took her home that night she was being put down, so guess who brought her home???!!!  She is nuetered and would need a rabies shot.

Well I have been working on the matted fur which has just been a joy, NOT.  I called the vet to make an apointment for her rabies shot and I asked what it would cost to have her shaved at the vets, starting price is 0, because they have to put her under!!!  Guess who is still working on the matted fur???!!!

Vic informed me that the pound told him we have 7 days to give her back if we don't want her and I told him he would never take her back, because he knew full well that would be the end of her, because they would go ahead and put her down.  So here we are 5 cats and 1 dog, I think I am going to put a sign out front stating: HOME FOR WAYWARD CATS!!!   Oh by the way her name is PRINCESS LULABELLE!!!!  hehehehe I've always had a cat around and at one time, when I was a child, we had 26 of them. I was always getting in to trouble for bring a barn cat in the house. Couldn't help myself when the poor thing would rub up against me and look up at me with those big eyes.
Now I only have 2 cats and when I had just the one, she would go out and bring back a buddy or two. Then I had to scoot the cat out the door and tell mine that she couldn't have a sister! Finally one day she brought this 6 toed cat back with her and he was so loveable with his long hair and chewed up ears that my heart melted and he was mine.
Over the years, I've become the cat person and if someone had a problem with their cat they would ask me. Sometimes they would bring a stray cat to me and plea with me to take it in. My reply would be, "do you want me to get killed by my two." Finally one day a neighbor moved and left the cat. The poor thing got hit and it's tail was dragging on the ground. He went under the building and stayed there. He could hear my voice when I was talking to my cats and started to meow. After much coaxing I got him to comee out. He was half starve and that tail had to be looked at. I didn't have the heart to take him to the SPCA, so I took him to my vet. That cat cost me ,000 to get him nursed back to health. Today, the cat is living with a neighbor and won't come near me.
It gets expensive to take in the strays or to feed a neighbor's cat because they don't want to keep the cat in the house.
Meme, good luck and you're a sweetheart but tell your husband to stay away from the SPCA unless you have alot of room for more.

   Marisa  hi Meme,

Congratulations on your new adopted baby.  I really have you give you and your husband kudos's for not allowing your new baby to be put to sleep.  I wish that animal owners understood, why it is necessary to have their animals neutered or spayed.  Then we would not have to look at all the beautiful faces on these wonderful animals and have to pass them by knowing that if we do not adopt them, they are going to be put to sleep.

It wrenches my gut every time I go into to SPCA or the cities animal control kennels and know that the owners of these animals where that uncaring.

Blessings to you and your new baby.

Bless those that care for the strays! We've got a three-legged rat "terror" picked up as a stray. David found him on the way to work one morning in early November. Based on the dog's "personality" I think he shot out the door when his master left for work and went unnoticed. David happened upon him in the dark, after being hit by a car. We spent a few bucks having a back leg taken off, but "Taz" gets around just fine!  He is such a part of the family now, 3 boxers and 1 rat terrier...

Crunchy, I use scissors where I can but some of the matts are quite close to the skin, so I am doing some shaving of her, but can only do so much at a time because she isn't too happy about it.  I got one of those new brushes they advertised on tv, at Walmart and that is helping too.  It is going to take some time but I will get the job done.  Someone suggested to me to use talcum powder and rub it into the matted fur and that may help to loosen them up, then once the matted fur is all gone, they said to rub her down a couple times a week with the talc and that should help keep matts to minimum.  Thank goodness she likes to be brushed.  I noticed though that she may be deaf, will have the vet check that out Tues.  meme

Ps My daughter is taking the fur and putting it outside for the birds to use in their nests, they seem  to like it saw a couple birds out back fighting over the fur, at least their nests will be comfy.  hehehe

meme38809.3921064815THANKS MEME FOR THE NAME I WAS LOOKING FOR. DOG GROOMERS!!!!!! SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I HAVE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING!

We have 2 cats, that stretchy one I put up a couple of weeks ago.  He's our baby, his name is Yoda.  We also have a lovely tortoise shell girl called Guinivere.  She is autistic.  She wants to be in the room with you but will sit in the corner with her back to you.  Hates to be picked up. I'll try to bring Yoda's photo over to this thread.  He is our sweetie, loves to be on your lap and comes in & head butts you while purring loud enough to wake the dead.  I do love my kitty-cats.

This is my Yoda.  He really makes us laugh.  Very good for the endorphins.

We also have 2 cats, and I'm trying to tame a little wild one outside that is eating my birds. Bad kitty!! It would be very happy to eat the fur, the bird, the nest, & the tree. Very bad kitty!
