I lost 2.5 pounds in week one. I am ready to go for week 2. Pammy also lost weight!!! I know there are alot of you guys that said you wanted in on this...come on and join us!

I would like to see what kind of ideas would be good incentives for meeting weight loss goals that do not involve food. One of my biggest problems (and it is a problem that alot of us have) is that we celebrate everything with food. So, since 5lbs is the first goal, I am trying to think of a reward. Maybe a pedicure, it is spring which = sandles and flip-flops. What about 10lbs, and 15lbs? After that the incentive is in the decreased clothing sizes.

Also, I wondered how much are yall trying to lose. Do you have one major goal or like a goal that will be good and then one that would be great?  I have a goal that will make me happy because most of my old clothes will fit, that would be after a total of 40 lbs lost. To be at a weight where I would be happy forever and get a new wardrobe and look fantastic...would be a total of 55 lbs lost. I cant beleive I have let myself gain so much. 45lbs in 3 years---I should be taken out and beaten. I will never do that again..I had lost 31 lbs and then just pigged out

So please share...motivations and goals. Thanks yall

I only lost 1 pound this week..but I'll take it!

I only need to lose 10 lbs, but it sure seems to be a struggle..ok..maybe not such a struggle....I  just love eating too much
My goal is to not let prednisone make me into a blow up doll.  I am just working every day to not over eat and to eat healthy foods.  I have my stomach trained to be full without a giant portion.  My goal is to keep it that way.

I could use to lose some weight, but with this medication, I will be happy to maintain where I am. If I lose, I will be thrilled, but I am not going to burden myself with too lofty of a goal right now.  I am still accepting this disease.  I will probably feel better once I know I am decreasing the pred and get more aggressive with the weight loss -- so until then, this is my plan.

I will be cheering you all on and keeping myself accountable right along with you.  I step on the scale this afternoon.  We are going swimming at 4 and they have a scale there.
Congrats to Crunchy, Pammy, and Kelstev. Even if it's only one lb that's a good thing! Take pride in that.
I lost 3 lbs. and now I've plateau. Just will have to work at it a little bit harder. How to motative yourself is easy. Take a look at what you want. Is it a new top, CD, DVD, to see a movie, anything that you enjoy. Don't make it about food. Then when you lose that lb., go for your reward. Then when you lose more, up the reward. It could be a nice weekend at a resort or going to a concert. You could also buy that special item that you wanted. In my case it was my new PC.
As for the clothes, buy them as you lose. Don't buy all at once until you have lost all that you want to. I kept one item from when I was super heavy and it's still hanging in my closet. It's such a good feeling to be able to go down a size and you can't stop smiling . Plus that good for me feeling over takes you.
Now for those of us who have to have that food reward, think smaller portion. I will buy one piece of good chocolate, take a bit out of it, and trash can the rest. The same goes for a piece of cake, pie, anything that is high in fat or calories. If I just have to have the whole piece, as with cake, I eat one bit with the frosting on it, and then scrape off the rest. There's still just a trace on the top and that will be enough for me.
Loosing weight isn't easy, it's hard! Don't beat yourself up if you backslide. WE ALL DO IT! Nobody knows what makes you want to eat but you. Think about why your eating. Is it to help cope with a problem, over stressed, worry, or is it really hunger.
If you find that's it hunger, than try eating smaller meals more often. Get your self on a schedule and don't become one of these people who grab what's in front of them and run or crawl,as may be the case, away.
But most of all, remember that there's a new you waiting to come out and that's the most wonderful feeling. You will soon realize that you have control over something and not the other way around.
So celebrate, Ladies, and together WE CAN DO THIS!

Marisa To all of you  CONGRAJULATIONSI went grocery shopping and bought fresh vegetables and fruit for lunch, and I have to say, I feel a HUGE difference in my mood and my hunger.

I swear, what you eat impacts everything.  I feel more charged to keep eating good already.

I think a good reward is to shop for something you love.  If I reach a long goal, a massage is a BIG present.  I haven't had one in ages, but it is something I have been wanting since I got RA.  I will put that on my reward list.

My reward today is to eat right.  I ate out last night and it made me feel terrible.  I think all that high salt just made me feel terrible.

I have an idea for a new name for this thread...INSPIRATION CENTRAL...  great ideas on healthy eating,  weight loss moral boosters, weight maintenance moral boosters, ideas on non-caloric treats and rewards.

WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

I am so happy for all of you! Keep up the good work. Lets make week 2 even more of a success than the first!!!!
