What is it with grocery shopping! | Arthritis Information

Not sure what the deal is but it seems that grocery shopping just about does me in.  It is just my husband  so I only buy like to worth of groceries per week but after shopping, loading them into the car, carrying them into the house and then putting everything away I am done for the day.

I also have fibro and I think it is more that kicking in than the PMR.

What is the thing that sets you off the most?
Any kind of lifting makes me hurt--my arms and back--but it may be also due to an existing problem with my back that got worse with pmr. It's like a vicious circle!

russellcat, maybe it's the lifting of bags, etc, that is doing you in after the shopping?
Washing windows! Or anything that requires that sort of movement of your arms! Whilst I lived in the UK it was ok for the outsides - I had a man who came round - but there was an attack of horizontal thunder rain back in the summer which has left the only window that isn't onto our 3rd floor balcony covered in dusty blobs and I absolutely can't summon up the enthusiasm to try to clean it. It means moving the computer so the window will open inwards to do it. I'll keep ignoring it for now!

Hello all,
Grocery shopping is a tough chore for me now, as well. My rheumy told me not to lift more than 15 pounds. Most of the clerks in our little town are aware of that, so they're pretty good at spreading the weight around. Also, I try to shop when my husband is home so that he can unload the bags! It's always a disappointment when I get home and his car is gone!

My friends tell me we live in a glass house, we have so many windows! I love it because we have a beautiful view of the Canadian Rockies, but washing them is an all day job! My husband also has been a great help with this. We did a thorough window washing this summer, and I pooped out pretty quickly. I feel really lucky that I have such a great guy!
