Anyone have episodes of blurred vision that lasts for maybe a few minutes to a few hours? I really notice that if I have been focusing close (reading, beading etc) then look up it takes a good 5 minutes to see the TV or focus on anything any distance away. Refocusing seems to be really slowing down. I've about given up on trying to focus. There are days when I see just fine, so I know it isn't the prescription, but there are days when I can't see a darned thing. It's frustrating, but just one more thing to deal with, I guess, because new glasses aren't going to fix it.
I get the blurry vision a lot, plus my eyes get very red. My doctor said I probably had some inflammation in my eyes and gave me some drops for them which have helped quite a bit.I get this a lot also. Seems to really be bad on my "bad days" or in a flare. I have mentioned it to my eye doctor and nothing much was said. I think that it has to do with the inflammation in our bodies. At least that is all that I can come up with. That blurred vision is what finally got me to the eye doctor. I was dx'ed with "dry eye" Worried me until i figured it out. Drops do help a lot. hhhmmmm......interesting, I never thought of it before but it does seem to correlate to my flare days. Oh well....thanks for the tipDon't ignore your eyes!!! get to the eye dr. Turns out I had Keratitis---caused by RA. Had to see
the dr. every week for six weeks. Good thing he was rather attractive!
Anyway...RA can affect your eyes. Make sure you see an opthomalogist-
not an optomistrist.
BeckyI have off and on blurriness as well as Sjogren's which can affect the eyes and make them dry and irritated. I also have blepharitis, a condition where the folicles aroud the lashes become inflamed. If i don't do eyelid scrubs, I can get eye infections. I can never tell how much is RA, how much allergies and how much Sjogren's , blepharitis. It is my understanding that plaquanil can also cause blurry vision and an in ability to focus. They probably are all interrelated. Just had an eye exam 2 weeks ago and everything checked out. I do blur right after MTX shot. I do think it is r/t the flares.
