New here and hurting | Arthritis Information

I was diagnosed with RA and Sjogrens and all the nerve issues that can go along with both in 2003.  For awhile mtx and Humira helped and then I got a bladder infection and had to be taken off both of them.  Started a short dose of prednisone and then when they put me back on mtx and Hum. a flare from h*** started.  Right now my hands and wrists, left knee, hip, shoulders and eyes are inflamed and the joints are badly swollen.  I called to see my doctor and found out he's moved an hour 's drive from me and no office yet.  So I'm in a bad mess.  So I started looking for a good forum.  Will be short sentences, hands hurt.  But glad to meet you all.

Welcome, Silverlady,  but sorry u need to be here.

Am so lucky I live in a capital city - but even then getting hold of a decent rheumy is hard.  Have just been told that my present rheumy, who is good, is not taking any more appointments for the time being - am not sure what's going on

Was fortunate that my RA was caught reasonably early and it doesn't seem to be as aggressive as what some folks have to deal with.  At moment I'm on mtx, Celebrex and in recent months, Arava.  Takes a while for the mtx to kick in.  No miracle drugs available at the moment - wish that govenments wd put mor money into medical research.  I do hope that you find a doc/rheumy not too far away, and some meds that work for you!
