I am 38 and have had RA possibly for awhile now but with 3 shoulder
surgeries in the last 3 1/2 years my RA symptoms have been masked with
pain meds. This Jan I started having pain and inflammation mostly in my
hands.
I've been on the following medications: Started with Meloxicam,
Prednisone, then plaqunil, then Methotrexate. Now I am on Simponi
injections. All along with pain meds.
Symptoms: Feet/ankles hurt or burn, knees hurt, hips hurt, back
hurts/stiff, Now both of my shoulders hurt, wrists/fingers hurt the
most. Some days are better than others and just depends on what I
attempt to do during the day.
I've been on Medical leave for a month now, just saw my DO and he
doesn't want me to return to work yet.... possibly never. I have a very
physical job I work with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries. I am
a Occupational Therapy Assistant.
My DO wants me to start Remicade IV infusions now to see if that will
better control my symptoms. Anyone have experience with this med and
or any advice to offer.
How many of you have returned to work? What were your experiences with
your employers? Did any of you have issues getting on LTD? Any of you
have your employer hint towards you quitting your job?
I am very new to this and I want to make sure that 1) I'm getting the
meds I need to feel better. 2) I want to do this right with my employer
so to protect myself.
